Political Action Questionnaire
1. What is your position on Employee Labor Organizations raising
political action money (PAC)? Do you think Employee Labor Organizations
should be treated different than other organizations with respect to
political activities?
Do you think there should be limits to how Employee Labor Organizations
raise and spend political action money?
2. Do you support the current defined benefits retirement plans for
public employee’s? Are there any changes that you would recommend or
support for public safety retirement programs? Please explain.
3. What is the ratio of peace officers to citizens in your area? Do you
believe this ratio is adequate? Please explain.
4. Do you support the death penalty? Do you believe that a mandatory
death sentence for the murderer of a peace officer is appropriate?
5. What is your position on privatization of public safety, jails, or
the courts in your area?
6. Do you support/oppose reducing or eliminating any of the provisions
of the POBR?
7. Do you support current law that provides for punitive damages against
law enforcement managers that purposely violate POBR and other
collective bargaining rights? What is your position? Please explain.
8. Do you support binding arbitration for public safety officers, and if
so, what issues do you believe should be covered?
9. Do you support the ability for all fully sworn and retired peace
officers to carry a concealed weapon anywhere within the State, even
private venues such as amusement parks and concert venues? How do you
feel about all law enforcement carrying their weapons across the United
States?
10. How do you feel about civilian police review boards and or police
auditors? Do you feel they should be used and if so how?
11. What do you feel are the three most important issues facing law
enforcement today?
12. What is your position about the current workers comp rules for
public safety. Do you support or oppose the workers comp presumptive for
public safety officers and how would you change them, if at all?
13. What is your position on police pursuits? Do you believe that
officers should be held personally liable for injuries incurred by
others as the result of police pursuits?
